Tripa is filler. Long tripa (tripa larga) is the whole-leaf interior of a premium handmade cigar. Short tripa is chopped leaf, used in a different class of cigar. Smoke Rings uses the long-leaf sense unless a page says otherwise.
The tripa is where ligero, seco, and volado are combined. A blender may also mix countries, seed types, and vintages. The bunching method — entubado or accordion — is how that mix is packed so air can move.
Capa is the wrapper; capote is the binder; tripa is the rest. The three Spanish words are the whole recipe.
