Tripa means filler. Long filler (tripa larga) is the whole-leaf interior of a premium handmade cigar. Short filler is chopped leaf, used in a different kind of cigar. Smoke Rings uses the word in the long-filler sense unless a page says otherwise.
The tripa is where ligero, seco, and volado are combined. A blender may also combine tobacco from different countries, seed types, and harvest years. The bunching method, entubado or accordion, determines how the leaves are arranged so air can pass through.
Capa is the wrapper, capote is the binder, and tripa is the rest. These three Spanish words cover every part of the cigar.
