Also called: Trademark Trial and Appeal Board

The Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) is the part of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office that hears opposition and cancellation cases. A party that loses at the TTAB can appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit or file a civil action in federal district court. In December 2022 the TTAB ordered General Cigar's two U.S. COHIBA registrations cancelled under the Inter-American Convention; that order is on appeal. See Cohiba vs. Cohiba.
