Pyramid

Wiki · Terms · Pyramid

Also called: pirámide

A pyramid (pirámide in Cuba) narrows steadily from an open foot to a pointed, capped head. The Cuban pirámide, the size of the Montecristo No. 2, is 156 mm (about 6⅛ inches) long with a 52 ring gauge at the foot. New World pyramids are commonly about 6 to 7 inches long with a ring gauge in the low 50s or more at the widest point. Sizes vary by company.

The names are not used consistently. Many shops and catalogs call the same shape a torpedo; others use pyramid for a long, even taper and torpedo for a straighter body with a pointed head. What they have in common is the pointed head. Check the photo and the printed measurements.

Cut only a little of the head at first, with a small guillotine cut or a V-cut near the tip, and cut more only if the draw is tight. Guide: torpedo and belicoso.
