Cameroon wrapper is wrapper leaf grown in Cameroon (and, in the past, in nearby parts of Africa). Smokers look for a bumpy surface, called “tooth,” made up of small raised spots on the leaf, and a reddish-brown colorado color. These are common characteristics, but not every leaf has them.
The leaf is valued as a wrapper, not as filler. Supply has always been smaller than for Connecticut or Ecuadorian wrapper, which is why it tends to appear on specific lines rather than on every cigar a company makes.
The leaf is grown in Africa. Accounts of which seed it came from vary by farm and by period, so this page does not name a single parent plant. If a maker names the seed, accept the maker’s information.
