A book bunch (also called booking) is the quickest of the three hand bunching methods. The roller lays the filler leaves flat, one on top of another, folds the stack over once like closing a book, and wraps it in a binder leaf.
Because the leaves lie flat against each other, less air passes between them than in an entubado or accordion bunch. Its advantage is speed: a roller can make more cigars in a day. Trade sources describe it as one of the most widely used methods in premium production today. As with any method, a careful roller makes a better cigar than a hurried one. Chapter: bunching and rolling by hand.
