The toro is a modern retail size rather than an old Havana factory size. Depending on who is describing it, it is a robusto ring gauge with more length, or a corona length with a thicker ring gauge. Many New World lines use 6 × 50 or 6 × 52 as their toro.
More tobacco in the bunch means a longer smoke than a robusto and more filler in proportion to wrapper than in a thin corona. Whether that is better is a matter of preference.
If a catalog says “toro” but the cigar is a torpedo, go by the photo. Names vary; the shape does not.
