Blend has two meanings. In a factory, it means the recipe: which grades of filler, which binder, which wrapper, and which harvest years are used. On a band, it often means the cigar is not a puro, for example an Ecuadorian wrapper over Nicaraguan filler, or any other mix of countries.
Combining tobacco from different countries is normal in the New World cigar industry. The Dominican cigar industry was built on imported wrappers. This is simply how the industry developed. See puro vs blend.
A blend is not the same as a flavor description. “Earthy” is a tasting note; the blend is the combination of leaves the roller uses.
