My Father is a family cigar company in Estelí, Nicaragua, run by the García family. José “Pepín” García was a cigar roller and blender in Cuba before he left for Miami in 2003, where he opened a small factory in Little Havana. The family then set up a factory in Estelí.
In 2008 his son Jaime García created the My Father brand in his honor. In 2009 the family moved into a larger factory in Estelí, which also took the name My Father Cigars. The family grows much of its own tobacco on farms in Nicaragua.
Well-known lines include My Father, Le Bijou 1922, Flor de las Antillas, El Centurión, La Antigüedad, and the Don Pepín García line. Two of its cigars have been Cigar Aficionado’s Cigar of the Year: the Flor de las Antillas Toro in 2012 and the My Father Le Bijou 1922 Torpedo Box Pressed in 2015. “1922” is the year Pepín’s father was born. Most of the company’s cigars are medium to full in strength.
The factory also makes cigars for other companies, including Ashton’s San Cristobal, which is not connected with the Cuban San Cristóbal de La Habana.
