Camacho is a cigar brand made in Danlí, Honduras, by Oettinger Davidoff AG. It is named after Simón Camacho, a Cuban exile who opened a cigar factory in Miami in 1961 and also helped found Joya de Nicaragua.
After Camacho’s death, the Eiroa family bought the brand in 1995. Julio Eiroa had grown tobacco in Cuba and then in Honduras, where his family farmed corojo tobacco in the Jamastrán valley. His son Christian Eiroa launched the Camacho Corojo in 2000, and it made the brand known for strong cigars. Davidoff bought Camacho in 2008. The Eiroa family kept its farms.
Davidoff opened a new factory in Danlí in 2017, Diadema Cigars de Honduras, to make Camacho. It replaced the older Camacho factory. All Camacho cigars are still made there.
Lines include Corojo, Criollo, Connecticut, Triple Maduro, Broadleaf, and Ecuador. Most are full in strength, though the Connecticut is milder. Camacho is Davidoff’s main brand for smokers who want a strong cigar, and it is one of the best-known Honduran brands.
