Drew Estate is a cigar company founded in New York in 1996 by Jonathan Drew and Marvin Samel. It began with a cigar kiosk in the World Trade Center. In 1998 the company moved its production to Estelí, Nicaragua, and in 2007 it opened its own large factory there, La Gran Fábrica Drew Estate. Swisher International bought the company in 2014, and Jonathan Drew stayed on to run it.
Drew Estate first became known for ACID, cigars with added flavors and aromas. Its Java and Tabak Especial lines are also flavored. These are infused cigars, not traditional premium cigars, and Drew Estate is the best-known maker of them.
The company later became known for traditional cigars as well. Liga Privada, first made for the owners and their friends, became one of the most sought-after Nicaraguan cigars. Other traditional lines include Undercrown, Herrera Estelí, blended by Willy Herrera, and Kentucky Fire Cured, which uses fire-cured leaf. The museum bands below include Java, Tabak Especial, Nica Rustica, and La Vieja Habana.
Drew Estate is one of the largest cigar companies in Nicaragua. It also makes cigars for other brands.
